His Word is Sharp
Knives can be threatening.
Knives can be redemptive.
A surgeon removing a tumor is not the same thing as a thug
stabbing someone for their wallet. So
too, what one calls Negative Thinking can actually to another be contemplative
reflection and self-examination leading to corrective action to remove
falsehoods from one’s life.
Acknowledging the falsehoods in the traditions of our fathers is not to
condemn the fathers but to redeem them by taking the first step of
repentance...which is recognition. To recognize the error
allows one to correct the error. It is the beginning of Repentance.
For this reason it was said “Let us labour therefore to
enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of
unbelief. For the word of God is quick
and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Therefore I ask you, don’t walk out on the conversation
and dismiss it as “Negative Thinking”.
If we both seek for truth, let us reason together that we may both
discover our errors and repent.
